Tusculum's Matsuguma Named South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men's Tennis Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum's Nathan Matsuguma has been named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played during week seven of the 2023 season, the Conference announced today.
Matsuguma, a senior student from Tokyo, Japan, went undefeated last week for the Pioneers, winning three singles matches and two doubles matches. Matsuguma picked up two strong wins at No. 3 doubles, winning 6-3 versus Lincoln Memorial and 6-2 versus Limestone. In singles play, Matsuguma secured a hard fought 8-6 win against Lincoln Memorial at No. 5 singles, a straight set 6-0, 6-4 victory against Limestone at No. 6 singles, and an 8-1 win against UVA Wise at No. 4 singles. Matsuguma's victories have helped the Pioneers secure wins in five consecutive matches.
