Catawba to Host NCAA Men's Tennis Regional as Top Seed; Wingate Earns No. 5 seed
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- The Catawba Indians were selected as the No. 1 seed and the host of the NCAA Southeast Regional in Men's Tennis as the field was released tonight. Wingate earned an at-large berth to the tournament as the No. 5 seed.
Catawba went 18-1 on the season and swept the SAC Regular Season and Conference Tournament titles. The Johnson Tennis Center will play host to the regional for the second straight year with matches starting May 11 where they will take on No. 8 seed Mount Olive. Led by SAC Player of the Year Agustin Mastri, Catawba will look to advance to nationals for the first time in program history with a pair of wins on the weekend.
Wingate is the fifth seed after a season that saw them go 15-7 overall and 10-1 in league play. Wingate dropped the SAC Championship to Catawba but earns a bid to the tournament. They will take on the No. 4 seed North Georgia on the 11th.
