The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum's Widchard Guervil was named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Wingate's Bryce Bennett was named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested Jan. 15-21, the League office announced today.

Guervil, a freshman sprinter from Fort Myers, Fla., won the 60-meter dash at the Wake Forest Invitational last week. He posted time of 6.87 seconds, defeating runners from Wingate, Coker, the Citadel, Davidson and USC Upstate. Guervil also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.70 seconds.

Bennett, a freshman jumper from Homer, Ga., won the long jump at the Wake Forest Invitational last week with a leap of 7.16 meters. His winning jump is the third-best in the Southeast region, and is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

The award is Guervil's first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season, and it is Bennett's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
