Carson-Newman Sweeps SAC AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman's Devon Moore was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, and teammate Danilo Cardoso was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the second week of the indoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today.
Moore, a junior from Baxley, Ga., set a new school record and became an NCAA Division II automatic qualifier when he won the ETSU Invitational 60-meter dash with a time of 6.71 seconds. Moore now holds the second fastest time in all of NCAA Division II in the 60-meter dash.
Cardoso, a freshman from Brazil, made his first collegiate meet a memorable one as he took home first place honors in the men's high jump at the ETSU Invitational with a leap of 2.06 meters. In addition to winning the high jump, Cardoso also became an NCAA Division II provisional qualifier with the mark.
The award is Moore's first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season, and it is Cardoso's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
