The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Javon Graham was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Queens' Martin Knauer was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the third week of the indoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today.
Graham, a graduate student from Fayetteville, N.C., set a Wingate record in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing fourth overall with a time of 8.00 seconds at the Gamecock Opener. His time is an NCAA provisional mark and is the fifth best 60-meter hurdle time in NCAA Division II. In addition to his provisional mark, Graham ran a 23.08 second 200-meter dash.
Knauer, a junior from Wolnzach, Germany, picked up a first place finish and an NCAA provisional mark in the shot put with a throw of 17.43 meters at the Gamecock Opener. His throw not only won the event but gave him the best mark in the conference.
The award is Graham's first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season, and it is Knauer's second Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
