The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Javon Graham was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Lenoir-Rhyne's Daniel Nicholson was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the six week of the indoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today.
Graham, a graduate student from Fayetteville, N.C., punched his ticket to the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championship with an automatic qualifying time of 7.88 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles at the Camel City Invitational. In addition to earning a bid to the National Championship, Graham also posted the fastest time in the SAC in the 60-meter hurdles.
Nicholson, a sophomore from Statesville, N.C., placed second in the men's pole vault at the VMI Invitational and broke the Lenoir-Rhyne pole vault record with a leap of 4.65 meters. His mark is currently the top in the SAC and in the Southeast region.
The award is Graham's second Track Athlete of the Week honor this season, and it is Nicholson's second Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
