The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum's Widchard Guervil was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Lenoir-Rhyne's Ellis Horton was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the eighth week of the indoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today.

Guervil, a junior sprinter from Fort Myers, Fla., won the 60-meter dash at the USC Open with an NCAA Division II automatic qualifying time of 6.72 seconds last week. Additionally, he posted an NCAA Division II provisional time in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.29, placing third in the event.

Horton, a freshman thrower from Mt. Pleasant, N.C., placed fourth in the weight throw with a throw of 15.04 meters at last week's JDL DMR Invitational. He also placed ninth in the shot put with a 12.31-meter toss. Horton's shot put throw was a new personal best.

The award is Guervil's first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season, and it is Horton's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
