The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com)– Tusculum's Widchard Guervil was named the South Atlantic Conference Astroturf Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Queen's Martin Knauer was named the South Atlantic Conference Astroturf Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the third week of the indoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today. 

Guervil, a senior sprinter from Fort Myers, Fla., swept both the 60 meters and 200 meters at the Flat Fast Invitational at JDL Fast Track. Guervil' ran 22.01 to win the 200 meter dash; while also clocking a time of 6.71 in the 60 finals, which is now the second-best time in Division II this season and third-fastest in school history. 

Knauer, a graduate student from Wolnzach, Germany, took second place in the shot-put invite with a mark of 18.13 meters at the Carolina Challenge, moving him to fifth nationally. He also took fifth place in the men's weight throw with a mark of 15.67 meters.

This award is Guervil's third Track Athlete of the Week honor this season, and it is Knauer's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
