Tusculum's Nelson and Wingate's Weathers Named South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum's Zackary Nelson was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Wingate's Darius Weathers was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the sixth week of the indoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today. 

Nelson, a senior sprinter from St. Johns, Fla., earned victories and set program records in the 300-meter and 400-meter at the VMI Winter Relays. He won the 300-meter dash with a time of 33.74 seconds, and he won the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.54 seconds. Nelson was also a member of the first place 4x400 relay team that posted a time of 3:18.00.

Weathers, a graduate student jumper from Columbia, S.C., took home second place honors in the triple jump with a leap of 14.36 meters at the Camel City Invitational.
