Queens Women And Wingate Men Lead After Day One Of The 2016 SAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships
Hickory, N.C. – The Queens Women and Wingate Men lead after the first day of the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Track and Field Championships Friday at the Irwin Belk Track and Moretz Sports – Athletic Complex on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University.
The Royals leads the women's competition with 84 points while the Bulldogs have totaled 53 points on the men's side.
Queens is led by Nikia Squire, last year's league track athlete of the year. Squire won the women's long jump (19'4") and finished first in the preliminaries of the women's 100-meter dash (12.11) and 200-meter dash (24.77).
For Wingate, Austin Greeson placed first in the men's javelin throw (171'3") while Isaiah Kyle won the men's high jump (6'11").
The second and final day of the championships take place on Saturday beginning with the men's shot put at 10:00 a.m. The first running event is the women's 400-meter relay at 11:10 a.m.
