The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum's Widchard Guervil was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Queens' Martin Knauer was named AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested April 1 through April 7, the Conference office announced today.
Guervil, a sophomore from Fort Myers, Fla., earned an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time and a first place finish in the 100-meter dash at the Lenoir-Rhyne Classic last week. He ran a time of 10.50 seconds, giving him the ninth fastest time in NCAA Division II this season.
Knauer, a sophomore from Wolnzach, Germany, took home three first-place finishes at the Lenoir-Rhyne Classic last week. He won the shot put with a distance of 17.64 meters. He won the discus with a distance of 49.14 meters and he won the javelin with a distance of 55.54 meters. Additionally, he took home third place honors in the hammer throw. His shot put throw was an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying distance.
