Carson-Newman's Greer and Potts-Howard Take Home All-American Honors to Highlight Day One of the NCAA National Championship
KINGSVILLE, Texas - Luke Greer posted a time on 31:11.07 to finish fifth in the men's 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Thursday (May 23). Greer earns first team All-American honors with his top-five finish.
In addition to Greer's All-America nod, Kristopher Potts-Howard also became an All-American in the long jump for the Eagles. His leap of 7.41 meters was good enough for twelfth place, which earned him second team All-American honors.
The final Eagle to leave his mark on the day was Devon Moore, who posted a 10.26 second 100-meter dash and won his heat during the perliminary race. Moore's time was the third fastest of the day and he will compete for the 100-meter National Championship on Saturday (May 25).
Lenoir-Rhyne's 4x100 Team Falls Short in Prelims
KINGSVILLE, Texas – Day one of the 2019 Outdoor NCAA National Championships has wrapped up and the first group of Bears performers have competed in their preliminary.
The 4x100-meter team consisting of All-American P.J. Lotharp as well as Kaynmon Maddox, Lucas Besong and Ja'Tay Culliver finished fifth in heat two and eleventh overall but failed to qualify with a time of 41.27.
Tomorrow, Lotharp will compete in the prelims of the 200-meter dash.
Wingate's Carson finishes 15th in NCAA men's 100 meter dash preliminaries
Kingsville, Texas----Wingate University senior sprinter Michael Carson (Detroit, Mich.) finished 15th in the men's 100 meter dash preliminaries at the NCAA Division II national outdoor track and field championships Thursday night in Javelina Stadium. Twenty runners competed in the men's 100 meter dash preliminaries. FULL RECAP
Queen's Wallis and Wammetsberger Shine in Day One of NCAA National Championship
KINGSVILLE, Texas - Daniel Wallis and Felix Wammetsberger highlighted day one of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship for Queens. The duo qualified for the 1,500-meter run final on Saturday (May 25) after posting stellar times in the prelims.
Wallis had the time time in the prelims, posting a 3:55.16, while Wammetsberger, the 2019 NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Champion in the mile, posted a time of 4:02.67.
Also competing for Queens on Thrusday was Anthony Raftis in the 10,000-meter run. Raftis placed sixteenth in the event with a time of 32:19.70.
