The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com)– Lenoir-Rhyne's Marlin Davis was named the South Atlantic Conference Astroturf Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Queens' Simon Rey was named the South Atlantic Conference Astroturf Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the third week of the indoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today.
Davis, a junior sprinter from Indian Land, S.C., finished 2nd in both the 100 and 200 meter dash in the elite division of the Vertklasse Meeting at High Point against all Division I competition. In the 100 meter dash, Davis ran a time of 10.46 seconds and in the 200 meter dash, he clocked a time of 20.79 seconds; just missing his own school record by .01 seconds.
Rey, a graduate student from Port, France set a new school record in the decathlon with a third-best score of 7,335 points at the David Noble Relays, hosted by Angelo State. Rey's mark now sits ranked second in the nation and was a NCAA provisional mark.
This award is Davis' first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season, and it is Rey's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
