South Atlantic Conference Cross Country Runners, Teams Recognized for Academic Achievements
Metairie, La. - A total of 26 South Atlantic Conference cross country runners, as well as seven teams, have earned All-Academic honors by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Carson-Newman, Mars Hill, Presbyterian and Wingate were recognized as All-Academic Teams for women's cross country, while Carson-Newman, Lenoir-Rhyne and Wingate were recognized as All-Academic Teams for men's cross country.
Earning All-Academic honors for women's cross country were: Vanessa Gibson, Carson-Newman; Laura Savery, Carson-Newman; Genna Eisenmann, Lenoir-Rhyne; Whitney Heavner, Lenoir-Rhyne; Elisabeth Head, Mars Hill; Keely Hollahan, Mars Hill; Ashley McCauley, Mars Hill; Erin McKee, Mars Hill; Katherine Prichard, Mars Hill; Rachel Retallick, Mars Hill; Lindsay Boldt, Wingate; Natalie Creech, Wingate; Karen Porter, Wingate; Chelsey Wilson, Wingate and Laura Berry, Wingate.
Men's cross country All-Academic honors went to Eric McAnly, Carson-Newman; Mark Robinson, Carson-Newman; Brian Wetherington, Carson-Newman; Nolan Winters, Lenoir-Rhyne; Jose Zavala, Lenoir-Rhyne; Jon Sharp, Lenoir-Rhyne; Josh Stuckey, Lenoir-Rhyne; Jonathan Stoehr, Mars Hill; James Thompson, Mars Hill; Dustin Whitlow, Mars Hill; and Nick Stump, Wingate.
To qualify for the individuals honors, a runner had to be in the
top 30 percent of participants at their regional meet and have a
3.25 grade point average or higher. For a team to qualify, it had
to have a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher and all of the
participants in the regional meet had to comprise that GPA.
