Bishoff, Hammond Named SAC Runners of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Following strong performances at highly-competitive events over the weekend, Anderson's Whitney Bishoff and Wingate's Steve Hammond have been named the SAC Cross Country Runners of the Week.






Whitney Bishoff was the top Division II competitor and finished 17th overall in last weekend's Clemson Invitational -- a race that featured five squads from the DI Atlantic Coast Conference.

Her time of 21:37.09 was just one second off her personal race in the 6K event. As a team, Anderson finished ninth at the race.

Bishoff is the defending SAC individual champion. This is her second Runner of the Week selection in 2011.

Hammond was Wingate's top performer last week at the Winthrop Invitational. He finished 5th in the 8K race with a time of 26:08.64, which was the best time for a Division II runner

Hammond's time helped Wingate to a fourth-place finish in the event.

Both runners were selected to the preseason All-SAC team.
