Mars Hill Named SAC Athletic Training Staff of the Year
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill College has been named the 2010-11 South Atlantic Conference Athletic Training Staff of the Year, the league office announced on Tuesday.
The award, voted on by each of the SAC member institutions, was presented to Mars Hill head athletic trainer Allen Shelley and his staff at the conference's summer athletic trainers meeting.
Shelley, in his 18th year at MHC, leads the school's staff which also includes assistant trainers Michael Hodges, Joel Moffat, Brittany Ott, Kelly Ottie and Danielle Voss.
"We are humbled by this recognition," Shelley said. "It is very special to be recognized by your peers, especially a group of certified athletic trainers with the work ethic and professionalism as the South Atlantic Conference athletic trainers.
"We are very fortunate to be able to work with such a highly qualified group of athletic trainers who always keep the student-athletes' health and well-being front and center."
In addition to providing student-athletes with excellent injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation care, the staff helps manage Mars Hill's athletic training major, a comprehensive educational program to prepare liberal arts student for a career in athletic training./>/>
