Carson-Newman’s Stevens, Lenoir-Rhyne’s O’Connor Named Softball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Carson-Newman's Mandy Stevens (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Lenoir-Rhyne's Meredith O'Connor (Charlotte, N.C.) have earned South Atlantic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week honors, league officials announced today.
C-N's Stevens hit .600 (12-for-20) on the week, leading the Lady Eagles to a 6-0 record. The senior third baseman pounded out three doubles and a home run as her team clinched a share of the South Atlantic Conference title and matched the school-record for wins in a single season at 42. She has 10 home runs on the year to lead the Lady Eagles, while batting .370 in SAC play.

L-R's O'Connor took Pitcher of the Week honors after a 7-0 week, extending her team's win streak to 12 games. She also pitched all six of the Bears' conference games, as L-R went 6-0 to grab a share of the 2008 SAC title.
The senior is now 28-7 on the season with 283 strikeouts.
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors in the league.
