Food Lion SAC Softball Tournament Suspends Game Due To Rain, Lightning

Hickory, N.C. - The 2009 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Softball Tournament has been halted due to lighting and impeding rain in the Hickory area. The Lenoir-Rhyne vs. Newberry game will resume in the bottom of the third inning on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m.

Lenoir-Rhyne was up 1-0 on a solo home run by freshman catcher Sarah Atkins (Newport News, Va./Warwick HS). The line drive that jumped off of Atkins' bat as it exited the park was her third of the tournament and 10th of the season.
