Lenoir-Rhyne Duo Selected as SAC Softball Weekly Award Winners

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne senior Sarah Atkins has been named the SAC Softball Player of the Week, and teammate Dawon Millwood was selected as the conference's Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the league Tuesday.

Atkins led the Bears to a perfect 8-0 record this week as she totaled nine hits -- five being home runs -- and a .450 batting average. With those five home runs, Atkins became the school's all-time leader in home runs with 41 and runs batted in with 164. The senior's week was highlighted by a two-for-two day against East Stroudsburg where she scored three times and drove in four runs in a 9-3 victory.

Millwood cruised in the circle this week as she was responsible for half the team's victories. With those four wins, Millwood became the all-time winningest pitcher in Lenoir-Rhyne history with 74 victories. The senior's highlight came against Pfeiffer as the tossed a complete game two-hitter, striking out seven Pfeiffer batters.
