SAC Lands Seven on Daktronics All-Region Softball Team
Seven softball student-athletes from the SAC have been named Daktronics All-Southeast Region selections, including two on the First Team, it was announced on Tuesday.
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Seven softball student-athletes from the SAC have been named Daktronics All-Southeast Region selections, including two on the First Team, it was announced on Tuesday.
Earning first-team accolades were Lenoir-Rhyne catcher Sarah Atkins and Mars Hill third baseman Natalie Haithcox.
Atkins had a stellar all-around season for the SAC Champion Bears, finishing fourth in the league with 51 RBI and fifth in home runs with 11. She also led the conference with 35 walks, posting a .435 on-base percentage.
Haithcox, meanwhile, led the SAC in home runs with 18, finished second in batting average at .415, second in walks with 32 and fifth in RBI with 46.
She also led the conference in both on-base percentage (.532) and slugging percentage (.966).
Atkins and Haithcox were both named All-SAC First Team selections earlier this season as well.
Two of Atkins' Lenoir-Rhyne teammates earned All-Region Second Team accolades in pitcher Dawon Millwood - who was also the SAC Pitcher of the Year - and first baseman Jessica Fellmeth.
The L-R duo joined Anderson shortstop and SAC Player of the Year Abby Child, Carson-Newman outfielder Cassidy Skeen and Lincoln Memorial outfielder Brianna Mulkey on the All-Region Second Team.
