SAC Softball Weekly Awards go to Coker’s Weatherford, Wingate’s Houser

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The SAC softball weekly awards were announced on Tuesday, honoring Coker outfielder Sydney Weatherford and Wingate pitcher Stacey Houser.

SAC Softball Player of the Week | Sydney Weatherford, Coker

Weatherford had a monster week for Coker, hitting .769 with a 1.692 slugging percentage. She had 10 hits in 13 at-bats – including six extra-base hits – and 11 RBI.

In Coker's Wednesday split with Queens, Weatherford went 5-of-7 with three home runs, a double and seven RBI. She also notched five hits in a Sunday double-header with Mars Hill, including a 4-of-5, two-double performance in game two.

Weatherford's 32 RBI this season currently rank fifth in the SAC.

SAC Softball Pitcher of the Week | Stacey Houser, Wingate

Houser went 3-0 on the mound last week, allowing only two earned runs in 19.2 innings pitched to finish with a 0.71 ERA for the Bulldogs.

Houser won both games of a key Wingate double-header sweep of Lenoir-Rhyne on Thursday, throwing a complete game in the opener followed by 5.2 innings of relief work in game two. She then tossed a complete-game shutout on Sunday in a 1-0 WU victory against Anderson, surrendering just three hits while striking out six.

Houser's 17 wins lead the SAC, and her 1.66 ERA ranks fifth in the conference.
