The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf SAC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, Feb. 10
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman's Bri Lockett was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week, while Brandi Hole of Lenoir-Rhyne was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 2-8, the League announced today.
Lockett, a junior from Fontana, Calif., batted .583 with seven hits, three home runs and nine RBI to lead the Eagles to a 4-0 record last week. She posted multiple hits in two of the four games she played in and highlighted her week with four hits, three home runs, including a grand slam in the win over Bluefield State on Feb. 7. Her three long balls, 13 total bases and nine RBI in the contest set Carson-Newman school records in all three categories. In the field, Locket posted six putouts and a 1.000 fielding percentage from her spot in the outfield. The honor is her first Player of the Week plaudit this season.
Hole, a junior from Sandy Ridge, N.C., went 3-0 with 15 strikeouts in 19 innings of work last week. She got her week started with seven strikeouts in a complete game win over Pfeiffer on Feb. 4. Three days later vs. Lees-McRae, she sat down five hitters in a complete game win. The next day against Mercyhurst, Hole posted three strikeouts in five innings. She did not allow an earned run in all three appearances and scattered 11 hits on the week. The award is her first Pitcher of the Week honor this season.
