The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf SAC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, Feb. 17
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Alexis Burrell was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week, while Jaime Hrobak from Brevard was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 9-15, the League announced today.
Burrell, a senior from Chesapeake, Va., batted .462 with six hits, six RBI and two home runs to lead the No. 25 Bulldogs to a 3-1 record last week. She posted multiple hits in three of the four games played and highlighted her week with a pair of hits and four RBI vs. Mount Olive on Feb. 11 as Wingate picked up s10-8 win. Against No. 9 North Georgia on Feb. 14, Burrell pounded out two hits and drove in a run in a win. In the field, the shortstop recorded 12 assists and six put outs to finish with a 1.000 fielding percentage. The honor is her first Player of the Week selection this season.
Hrobak, a junior from Mill Spring, N.C. posted a pair of wins and a save last week as she notched 38 strikeouts in 18.1 innings pitched. Against Montreat on Feb. 11, she struck out 15 hitters in a complete game win. She posted 10 strikeouts in 5.1 innings on Feb. 14 vs. Lees-McRae to pick up her second win of the week. Hrobak was also posted 13 strikeouts in six innings of relief in the four-game span. The honor is her first Pitcher of the Week honor this season.
