The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf SAC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, Mar. 31
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman's Elayna Siebert was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week, while Jamie Hrobak from Brevard was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Mar. 23-29, the League announced today.
Sibert, a junior from Knoxville, Tenn., posted 13 hits, four doubles, seven RBI, two home runs and a .591 average at the dish to lead the Eagles to a 4-2 record last week. She posted a hit in all six games she played in and went for multiple hits in four contests. She highlighted her week with four hits, a double and a pair of RBI in the Eagles' 10-4 win over USC Aiken in game two of the double-header on March 25. She posted six extra-base hits in the six-game span to finish with a slugging percentage of 1.045. The honor is her first Player of the Week selection this season.
Hrobak, a junior from Mill Spring, N.C., posted two wins and 26 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched for the Tornados last week. She got her week started with 13 strikeouts in a complete game nine inning shutout win over Tusculum on March 25. In her second win of the week, she struck out seven Queens hitters as Brevard notched a 5-1 win. She also posted six strikeouts in five innings of relief for Brevard. She finished her four outings with just a 0.33 ERA. The award is her second Pitcher of the Week nod this season.
