The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf SAC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, April 14
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman's Haley Taylor was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week, while Taylor Hussey from Mars Hill was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played April 6-13, the League announced today.
Taylor, a senior from Strawberry Plains, Tenn., posted a .533 average at the plate, to go along with eight hits and a home run to lead her squad to a 4-0 record last week. He highlighted her week with three hits, a homer and three RBI in a 7-2 win over Anderson in game two of the double-header on April 7. She notched three multiple hit games on the week and added a slugging percentage of .733. The award is her first Player of the Week plaudit this season.
Hussey, a senior from Randleman, N.C., posted a pair of wins for the Lions last week. She notched six strikeouts in 18.1 innings pitched. She allowed just one earned run in her four appearances last week to finish the span with a 0.38 ERA. The award is her first Pitcher of the Week honor this season.
