The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf Softball Players of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week for games played in the opening weekend of the 2020 season. Lincoln Memorial collected the player honor with Emma Webb, while Lenoir-Rhyne earned the pitching accolade with Lauren Rakes.

A junior utility third baseman, Webb helped lead the Railsplitters to a 3-1 record over non-conference opponents Maryville and West Virginia St. this past weekend. Overall the Knoxville, Tenn. native garnered a team-high .615 batting average, going 8-for-13 at the plate with two triples and a double. This is Webb's first Player of the Week honor of the season.

Rakes, a freshman pitcher, helped lead the Bears to a 4-0 record on the week with two complete game shutouts. Rakes went 15 innings allowing no unearned runs and only six hits, while walking just two batters and striking out 15. This is Rakes first Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
