The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf Softball Players of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week for games played in the third weekend of the 2020 season. Wingate collected the player honor with Haley Cashwell, while Newberry earned the pitching accolade with Selice Daley.

A junior shortstop, Webb helped lead the Bulldogs to a 4-0 record over non-conference opponents Augusta and Barton this past weekend. Overall the Autryville, N.C. native garnered a team-high .800 batting average, going 12-for-15 at the plate while scoring 10 times and stealing five bases. She now leads the SAC in runs, hits and stolen bases. This is Cashwell's first Player of the Week honor of the season.

Daley, a senior pitcher, helped lead the Wolves to a 2-0 record on the week with a complete game shutout verses Slippery Rock. Overall Daley went 12 innings allowing just one hit and striking out a season-high 13. This is Daley's first Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
