The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf Softball Players of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week for games played in the fourth weekend of the 2020 season. Tusculum collected the player honor with Chloe Freischmidt, while Newberry earned the pitching accolade with Selice Daley.

A sophomore catcher, Freischmidt helped lead the Pioneers to a 4-0 record over non-conference opponents Cedarville and Davis and Elkins this past weekend. Overall, the Naples, Fla. native, hit a .545 batting average, going 6-for-11 at the plate while hitting two grand slams and scoring five runs. The Tusculum Pioneers are 10-2 overall making it the best start in program history. This is Freischmidt's first Player of the Week honor of the season.

Daley, a senior pitcher, helped lead the Wolves to a 3-1 record on the week with a no hitter verses North Greenville and a perfect game against Converse. Overall Daley went 11.1 innings allowing just three hits and striking out a season-high 16. This is Daley's second Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
