The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf Softball Players of the Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week for games played in the sixth weekend of the 2020 season. Lincoln Memorial's McKenzie Henry collected the player honor while Carson-Newman's Makayla McCarthy earned the pitching accolade.
A sophomore catcher, Henry helped lead the Railsplitters to a sweep over conference opponent Mars Hill this past weekend. Overall, Louisville, Tenn. native, hit a .625 batting average, going 5-for-8 at the plate while hitting one homer and scoring three runs. This is Henry's first Player of the Week honor of the season.
McCarthy, a junior pitcher, helped the Eagles to take down Tusculum in their double header this past weekend. Overall McCarthy went 10.1 innings allowing just 6 hits while striking out 14. She also added two hits and one home run to close out the weekend. This is McCarthy's first Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
