The South Atlantic Conference Announces Seeds for 2021 SAC Softball Championship

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lincoln Memorial is the South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Champion, as the Railsplitters finished the SAC portion of their 2021 schedule with a 20-4 record. The Railsplitters will be the No. 1 seed in this week's South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship, which will be hosted by Tusculum University on April 23-24.  

Anderson finished the regular season with a 16-8 record placing them at the No. 2 seed. Catawba trailed closely behind with a 15-9 conference record to receive the No. 3 seed. Wingate and Carson-Newman, finished the season with 14-10 records in SAC play. The Bulldogs earn the No. 4 seed after winning the tiebreaker with Carson-Newman, going 1-1 with No. 1 Lincoln Memorial earlier this season, while the Eagles went 0-2 and will take the No. 5 seed. 

Tusculum and Lenoir-Rhyne both finished the 2021 regular season with a 13-11 record in the conference. Tusculum wins the tiebreaker with Lenoir-Rhyne for the No. 6 seed. The teams are 1-1 head-to-head, both teams are 0-2 versus No. 1 Lincoln Memorial and 1-1 versus Anderson; however, Tusculum is 2-0 versus Catawba and Lenoir-Rhyne is 1-1. The Bears will clinch the No. 7 seed after losing to the Catawba Indians once this season.

UVA Wise will round out the tournament as the No. 8 seed after finishing an even 12-12 in SAC play.

The single elimination 2021 SAC Softball Championship will be played at the Tusculum University's Red Edmonds Field in Greeneville, Tenn. Games begin on Friday (April 23) at 11 a.m. Below is the Championship schedule.

Game 1 – #4 Wingate vs. #5 Carson-Newman, 11:00am             

Game 2 – #1 Lincoln Memorial vs. #8 UVA Wise, 1:30pm      

Game 3 – #2 Anderson vs. #7 Lenoir-Rhyne, 4:00pm         

Game 4 – #3 Catawba vs. #6 Tusculum, 6:30pm

Saturday, April 24 (at Greeneville, Tenn.)

Game 5 – Game 1 Winner vs. Game 2 Winner, 12 Noon

Game 6 – Game 3 Winner vs. Game 4 Winner, 2:30pm

Game 7 – Game 5 Winner vs. Game 6 Winner, 5:00pm
