Anderson Sweeps South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week for games played in the second weekend of the 2022 season. Anderson's Kayson Boatner earns the Player honor while teammate Laken Maxwell earns the Pitcher of the Week honors.

A senior infielder, Boatner, was an instrumental part in helping the Trojans to a perfect 6-0 record this past weekend. Overall, Phenix City, Ala., native averaged a .650 batting average, going 13-for-20 from the plate with a 1.900 slugging percentage, 19 RBI's, 13 runs scored and eight home runs. This is Boatner's first Player of the Week honor of the season.

Maxwell, a sophomore pitcher, helped the Anderson Trojans improve to a 6-0 record on the season and 3-0 record on the week while playing 18 total innings. Overall, the Bowdon, Ga., native walked away with only seven hits and three walks, while striking out 29. In her game versus Frostburg, she threw a no-hitter to lead her team to an 8-0 win in five innings. This is Maxwell's first Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
