The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week for games played in the seventh weekend of the 2022 season. Anderson's Maddie Carpenter earns the Player honor while Carson-Newman's Syerra Rogers earns the Pitcher of the Week honors.

A freshman utility player, Carpenter, was an instrumental part in helping the Trojans to a 3-1 record this past weekend. Overall, the Hickory, N.C., native averaged a .438 batting average, going 7-for-16 from the plate with a .875 slugging percentage, four RBI's, five runs scored and two home runs. This is Carpenter's first Player of the Week honor of the season.

Rogers, a freshman pitcher, helped the Eagles improve to a 24-4 record on the season and 2-0 record on the week while playing 12 total innings. Overall, the Graysville, Tenn., native walked away with only four hits and two walks, while striking out 15. In her time on the mound, she allowed only one run scored and put down her second complete game shutout of the year. This is Roger's first Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
