The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week for games played in the eleventh weekend of the 2022 season. Lenoir-Rhyne's Kylee Leonhardt earns the Player honor while Anderson's Laken Maxwell earns the Pitcher of the Week honors.
A senior first baseman, Leonhardt, was an instrumental part in helping the Bears to a 3-1 record this past weekend. Overall, the Lincolnton, N.C., native averaged a .583 batting average, going 7-for-12 from the plate with a 1.417 slugging percentage, nine RBI's, five runs scored and three home runs. This is Leonhardt's first Player of the Week honor of the season.
Maxwell, a sophomore pitcher, helped the Trojans improve to a 35-5 record on the season and 2-0 record on the week while playing 13 total innings. Overall, the Bowdon, Ga., native walked away with only six hits and two walks, while striking out 21. This is Maxwell's fourth Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
