Anderson's Boatner and Maxwell Named Southeast D2CCA Player and Pitcher of the Year, 16 Players Named to First and Second Teams
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The votes have been counted and the region's sports information directors have selected the 2022 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Softball All-
Southeast Region teams. The South Atlantic Conference had nine first team members and seven second team members.
Fourteen student-athletes from eight different schools earned All-Southeast Region First Team distinction this season.
Anderson University swept the Region Pitcher and Player of the Year honors. Laken Maxwell was named Southeast Region Pitcher of the Year, while Player of the Year honors went to Kayson Boatner. Maxwell is 20-5 with a 1.86 ERA and 236 strikeouts over 158 innings this season. Playing first base, Boatner is hitting .444 this season adding 23 home runs, 47 runs and 63 RBIs.
Joining these two on the first team were: catcher Kylee Leonhardt, Savannah Moorefield and pitcher Lauren Rakes from Lenoir-Rhyne University, Emily Harris at second base and shortstop Leah Sohm from Carson-Newman University, Kylie Emanuele at third base and outfielder Courtlynn Cooney from the University of Mount Olive, outfielder Jolie Lester and designated player Haley Cummings from the University of North Georgia, utility/non-pitcher Rikkelle Miller from King University, utility player Sydney Kale from Wingate University and pitcher Emma Frost from Lincoln Memorial University.
The South Atlantic Conference (SAC) had 17 honorees on the two teams, while the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) had seven and the Conference Carolinas six.
The first team selections will move on to the All-America ballot. The D2CCA All-America programs honor student-athletes in Division II athletic programs. The mission of the CCA is to encourage and promote Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education.
The voting, nomination and calculations are all conducted by the school's sports information directors. The teams are voted on by the members of D2SIDA, NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association.
