Lenoir-Rhyne's Beeler Named 2023 South Atlantic Conference Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Morgan Beeler was named the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the Conference office announced today. 

The South Atlantic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year award is presented annually to one student-athlete in each of the Conference's championship sports and is voted on by the SAC's Faculty Athletic Representatives Committee. The winners are selected based on their achievements in academics, athletics, service, and leadership.

Beeler, a senior from Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., holds a 3.85 grade point average while studying exercise science. She has been named to the Lenoir-Rhyne President's List in the fall of her freshman, sophomore, and junior year and the Lenoir-Rhyne Dean's List during the fall and spring of her sophomore, junior, and senior year. Beeler has been a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll for four years in a row. She is also a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, an honor society for student-athletes who excel both on and off the field of competition. 

Beeler was voted the SAC Pitcher of the week a total of eight times during her career and four times in the 2023 season. She led the SAC in wins and strikeouts while finishing third in ERA to land her First Team All-Conference and SAC Pitcher of the Year honors. Beeler was named D2CCA Regional Pitcher of the Year and earned a spot on the National Pitcher of the Year ballot after she finished the year with a 23-5 record and five saves and struck out 204 batters in her 179.1 innings pitched. She was also named to the Tucci/NFCA National Pitcher of the Year Watchlist. Beeler tossed a no-hitter against No. 17 Wingate on March 14 to record her second career no-hitter. 

In addition to her success on the field and in the classroom, Beeler is also an active member of the Lenoir-Rhyne community. She has volunteered with Bears Leadership Academy, Youth Camps, Winter Skills Camp, Operation Christmas Child, Fall Friendly Softball Tournament, and Lenoir-Rhyne University athletic events. She also participated in 828 Day at Lenoir-Rhyne to benefit the community.
