Lincoln Memorial’s Madeline Richards Named Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -Lincoln Memorial University's Madeline Richards has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 10, it was announced today by the league office.
Richards, a native of Floyds Knobs, Ind., helped the Railsplitters to a pair of wins last week and also became a member of LMU's 1,000-point club.
Richards, a former standout at Floyd Central High School, scored
20 points in a 71-59 win at Brevard and added 11 points in a 54-49
win at Virginia State. She became the 16th player to eclipse the
1,000-point barrier in the win over Virginia State, while she set a
new school record with her 164th career three-pointer in the win
over Brevard. Against Brevard, the senior guard hit on
seven-of-eight shots from the floor, including making three-of-four
from behind the arc. She added three rebounds and a pair of
steals. Richards hit on three-of-five shots at Virginia State and
made her one lone three-point try. She also had four rebounds and
three assists in the win.
For the week, Richards averaged 15.5 points and shot 77 percent from the floor, making 10-of-13 tries. She was four-of-five on three-pointers and hit seven-of-eight from the line. She averaged 3.5 rebounds with four assists and three steals.
The South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
