Lenoir-Rhyne’s Amber Holt Named Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Lenoir-Rhyne freshman guard, Amber Holt, of Charlotte, N.C., has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending February 4, it was announced today by the league office. Holt helped the Bears to a pair of league wins last week.
Holt, a former standout at Hopewell High School, averaged 22.5
points and 6.5 rebounds in Lenoir-Rhyne's two wins. She scored 28
points in a 76-68 win over Tusculum and followed with 17 points in
a 67-60 win at Presbyterian. The freshman added eight rebounds and
five assists in the Tusculum victory and had five rebounds, two
assists and two steals in the PC win.
For the week, Holt connected on 56.5 percent (13-of-23) of her field goal attempts, including a 5-of-11 effort from behind the arc. Four of the three-pointers came in the win over Presbyterian. She made 14-of-20 (70 percent) at the line.
The South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week is voted on by the Sports Information Directors of the nine member schools.
