Lenoir-Rhyne’s Denise Moore Named Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne College sophomore Denise Moore, of Newport News, Va., has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending February 11, it was announced today by the league office. Moore helped the Bears to a pair of league wins to stretch their current win streak to five games.
Moore, a transfer from Rider University, posted a pair of double-doubles in leading Lenoir-Rhyne to road wins at Newberry and Carson-Newman. The 6-0 center had 25 points and 18 rebounds in a 79-63 win over Newberry and followed up with 17 points and 14 boards in a 71-58 win over Carson-Newman.
For the week, Moore averaged 21 points and 16 rebounds in the
two wins. She hit on 65 percent (17-of-26) of her field goal
attempts and was a perfect 8-for-8 at the line. She hit on 10-of-13
shots vs. Newberry and added three steals in the win over
Carson-Newman.
The South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week is voted on by the Sports Information Directors of the nine member schools.
