Wingate Takes Top Spot In Women’s Basketball Region Rankings
INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Committee has released this week's Division II women's basketball regional rankings, with three South Atlantic Conference teams ranked among the top 10 in the South Atlantic Region.
Wingate, which has secured at least a tie of the league championship heading into Wednesday night's games, has moved into the top spot in the region poll. Wingate was third last week.
Catawba College is sixth in the region poll, while Newberry College is eighth.
Eight teams from the South Atlantic Region advance to the NCAA Tournament, including automatic qualifiers from each of the three conferences in the region - the South Atlantic, the Peach Belt, and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
The regional rankings will be released every Wednesday through February 28.
