Tusculum’s Jasmine Gunn Named Women’s Basketball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Tusculum College's Jasmine Gunn has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, league officials announced today.
Gunn, a freshman guard from Nashville, Tenn., helped extend the Pioneers' winning streak to 11 games with wins over Converse and Carson-Newman last week. Tusculum's record now stands at 14-2 overall and 4-0 in the South Atlantic Conference.
Against Converse on Monday, Gunn scored 17 points, dished out
nine assists and snagged six rebounds in 23 minutes as the Pioneers
routed the Valkyries, 114-59.
Tusculum defeated in-state rival Carson-Newman, 79-74, and Gunn put in 23 points to go with six assists and four boards. She is currently ranked 12th nationally with 6.3 assists per game.
Gunn becomes the second repeat winner of the award and wins for the second time this season.
The South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week is determined
by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
