Wingate’s Kasey Gillis Named Women’s Basketball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Wingate University's Kasey Gillis has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, league officials announced today.
Gillis, a senior guard from Indian Trail, N.C., scored a career-high 30 points in Wingate's 89-72 victory at Lenoir-Rhyne Wednesday. For the week, Gillis averaged 23.0 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game. She led the Bulldogs to two victories to close the 2007-08 regular season.
In Hickory on Wednesday night, Gillis shot 64.7 percent from the
field and scored a career-high 30 points. She also grabbing six
rebounds. In a home win over Carson-Newman on Saturday, the senior
scored 23 points and garnered three rebounds as the Bulldogs
completed the regular season with a 12-2 South Atlantic Conference
record. For the week, Gillis was 14-for-17 from the free throw
line.
This is Gillis' second Player of the Week award this season and in her career. She is one of three Bulldogs to win the award this season and the fourth repeat winner this year.
The South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
