Lenoir-Rhyne’s Jami Safrit Named Women’s Basketball Player Of The Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. ­- Lenoir-Rhyne University's Jami Safrit has been named the South Atlantic Conference women's basketball Player of the Week, for the week ending January 3, 2010.

Safrit, a senior from Hickory, N.C. (Fred T. Foard HS) averaged 10.3 points, 5.7 assists and 5.3 rebounds in leading No. 23 Lenoir-Rhyne (9-3, 2-0) to a 2-1 week. She scored 17 points to go along with six assists and five rebounds in handing No. 21 Lander its first loss of the year, 77-71, Tuesday at the Heritage Bank Holiday Classic in Morrow, Ga.

Safrit concluded the week with a near triple-double (12 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds) in Lenoir-Rhyne's 75-60 victory over South Atlantic Conference-rival Tusculum Saturday at home.
