Newberry forward Haylee Lepaio has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played the opening week of the season
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Newberry forward Haylee Lepaio has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played the opening week of the season, the League announced today.
Lepaio, a senior from Bathurst, Australia, shot 48 percent from the field and averaged 15.0 points per outing to lead Newberry to a pair of wins last week. Against No. 4 Limestone on Nov. 15, she posted 19 points as she hit 57 percent of her shots from the field. She also ripped down 18 rebounds, posted one block and dished out two assists to lead the Wolves to a 76-67 win over the Saints on Nov. 15. She opened her season with 11 points, six rebounds, one block and one assist in Newberry's 79-57 win over Belmont Abbey on Nov. 14. The honor is her first Player of the Week nod this season.
