Wingate's Averette Named AstroTurf Women's Basketball Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played during Dec. 17 through Jan. 1. Wingate's Caroline Averette garnered the Player of the Week honor.

A senior guard, Averette led the Bulldogs to two victories over the break, including over SAC foe Catawba. The Midlothian, Va. native averaged 18.5 points, shooting 50 percent from the field and from three-point range, and went six-for-six from the free-throw line. She also collected nine rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block. This is Averette's first Player of the Week honor of the season.
