Anderson Women's Basketball Ranked Nationally, Regional Rankings Released by D2SIDA
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Anderson's women's basketball team continues their prominence in the latest D2SIDA national rankings, earning the No. 10 slot, while tabbed No. 18 by WBCA.
The Trojans (21-2, 15-0 SAC) are on a 19-game winning streak, fighting for two SAC victories during the week to remain in the national standings. Anderson is second nationally in Division II defensive rebounds per game with 32. The Trojans are also seventh in rebounds per game with 45.35, eighth with 1043 total rebounds, and ninth in rebound margin (+10.1).
Individually across Division II, junior guard Alexy Mollenhauer ranks fourth in defensive rebounds per game (9.0), while also tied for fifth in double-doubles (15), and seventh in total rebounds with 260.
In the D2SIDA southeast regional rankings, four spots belonged to SAC teams. Anderson hangs on to the No. 1 spot and Wingate stays at No. 3. Carson-Newman falls to No. 5, while Tusculum is No. 7.
The Trojans (21-2, 15-0 SAC) are the No. 1 team in the region for the sixth week and No. 10/18 in the nation, collecting all six first-place votes. On the week, Anderson earned wins at Lincoln Memorial and Lenoir-Rhyne. The Trojans defeated the Railsplitters 66-63 and the Bears 69-63, to extend their winning streak to 19 games.
The Bulldogs (17-5, 12-3 SAC) remains third in the region with wins over Catawba and Lincoln Memorial.
The Eagles (18-5, 11-4 SAC) drop to No. 5 in the southeast, despite two convincing wins. Carson-Newman routed both Mars Hill (109-49) and Coker (98-65).
The Pioneers (16-6, 8-6 SAC) take sole possession of No. 7 in the southeast after going 2-0 on the week. Tusculum downed non-conference Hiwassee 74-30 and SAC foe Queens (58-41).
