NCAA Releases Division II Women's Basketball Regional Rankings
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Four South Atlantic Conference women's basketball teams were named in the first week of the NCAA Division II southeast rankings. Anderson, Wingate, and Carson-Newman earned the top-3 spots, while Tusculum was placed in sixth.
The Trojans (23-2, 17-0 SAC) earned two SAC victories during the week and are sitting at No. 10/16 in the nation. On the week, Anderson earned wins versus regionally-ranked Carson-Newman and Coker. The Trojans defeated the Eagles 72-63 and the Cobras 93-48, to extend their winning streak to 21 games.
The Bulldogs (18-6, 13-4 SAC) are second in the southeast. During the week, Wingate lost to Lenoir-Rhyne (66-62) and dominated Mars Hill (95-52).
The Eagles (19-6, 12-5 SAC) is third in the region, splitting their two contests. Carson-Newman fell to nationally-ranked Anderson (72-63), but routed Catawba (90-57).
The Pioneers (18-6, 10-6 SAC) hold the No. 6 spot in the southeast, going 2-0 on the week. Tusculum had convincing victories over both Mars Hill (67-32) and Lenoir-Rhyne (82-57).
