Five SAC Student-Athletes Named to Google Cloud Academic All-District© Women's Basketball Team

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Five South Atlantic Conference student-athletes have been named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Division II Women's Basketball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

District 3, comprised of the Peach Belt, Conference Carolinas, and the South Atlantic Conference, had seven spots to fill, five of which were claimed by the SAC.

Newberry's senior guard Shelby Britten has a stellar 3.85 grade-point average in psychology. Carson-Newman's junior guard Kayla Marosites has a 3.73 GPA in child & family studies, while Lenoir-Rhyne's senior forward Madi Suddreth has a 3.76 GPA in chemistry.

Anderson had two student-athletes make the list with perfect 4.0 GPAs: junior guard Cassie Ketchum in kinesiology/pre-physical therapy and junior guard Alexy Mollenhauer in English/secondary English education (9-12).

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.

The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
