Anderson, Wingate, and Carson-Newman Women's Basketball Advance to NCAA Division II Southeast Regional
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Three South Atlantic Conference women's basketball teams will continue their season after earning berths to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional. Anderson, Wingate, and Carson-Newman earned three of the top-4 spots, with the Trojans as the highest seed.
The Trojans (29-2, 20-0 SAC) are sitting at No. 6/15 in the nation after wrapping up their first unblemished conference record since joining the SAC in the 2010-11 season and the longest winning streak (27) in program history. Anderson collected both conference regular season and tournament titles for the second time in program history, securing the SAC automatic qualifier.
The Bulldogs (22-8, 15-5 SAC) hold the No. 3 seed in the southeast and finished the regular season as the No. 2 seed going into the conference championship, where they finished as the runner-up to the winning Trojans.
The Eagles (22-7, 15-5 SAC) are No. 4 in the region after bowing out of the conference tournament in the opening round.
Virtue of being the No. 1 seed, Anderson will host the three-day tournament next weekend, spanning over March 15-18.
