ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Kay Yow Cancer Fund announced its 2019 Play4Kay national winners today as a part of the NCAA Women's Final Four and WBCA National Convention in Tampa, Florida. Play4Kay is the Fund's largest fundraiser and events are hosted in all 50 states. Because of the nationwide support of participating Play4Kay teams, fans, and communities, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund has awarded $7.53 million in the fight against ALL cancers affecting women.
Anderson University was the national winner for NCAA Division II, raising $6,305 for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The South Atlantic Conference, as a whole, raised $14,500.00 this year. This is the second time Anderson has won the honor (2013) and the largest amount raised in the 10 years of the SAC Play4Kay events.
"Play4Kay was Coach Kay Yow's vision. She saw this initiative as a way to unite the country in support of all women battling cancer. She wanted to use her platform to give strength to others--to lift up and encourage survivors. Due to the amazing support of teams from communities big and small, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund has been able to award $7.53 million on behalf of women's basketball in the fight against all women's cancers," said Stephanie Glance, CEO of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. "We are so appreciative of the ongoing support from our 2019 national winners and all of our participating schools. Funding from Play4Kay is making a difference and directly impacting the lives of others."
