UVA Wise's Vanzant Named South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Women's Basketball Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) –The South Atlantic Conference announced the AstroTurf Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played in the third week of the 2021-21 season. UVA Wise's Nia Vanzant earns this week's Player of the Week honor.

A junior guard Vanzant, helped lead the Cavaliers to a 2-0 record this past weekend. She picked up 27 points, four rebounds and four three pointers in their win over Mars Hill, while garnering 22 points, three rebounds and four more three pointers against Tusculum. Vanzant played a total of 80 minutes and averaged 24.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.0 three-point shots per game. Overall, the Murfreesboro, Tenn., native averaged 67.9 percent from the floor, while also going 19-for-28 from the field. This is Vanzant's first Player of the Week honor this season.
